June 4, 1971: Crowded sorting room

Packed like peas in a pod, mail sorters at Shepparton Post Office wage a losing battle with space in the mail room. 

Renovations to the old building could relieve the situation but the telecommunications branch, with a similarly limited exchange building, could not accommodate. 

One new PMG building on the present site, and with further provisions for further floors, would meet the districts needs for half a century ahead.
