Persistent negotiating by former president, Mike Cooke, has reached fruition with Lemnos Football Club becoming one of the first, if not the first, country football club to gain major sponsorship.
Courage Breweries recently relented after Cooke's continual efforts to get the company behind the Lemnos club and make it easier on administrators to finance in return for advertising the company and selling its products at functions.
Not that courage will be making wholesale handouts to the club.
It will still depend greatly on supporters and fund raising efforts to finance operations.
However, the company will make it easier to raise funds at functions such as its recent sportsmen's night and future presentation and social evenings.
Area representative for the company, Vin Murphy, shows Lemnos supporter, Kerrie Sier, girlfriend of player, Brendan McGee new red and white track suits senior players of the club will be wearing this year, while Kerrie models one of the suits.
Murphy said following on the club's successful sponsorship of North Melbourne, the company had decided to get behind Lemnos because of the support the club had given the company through the Hotel Australia.
"I only hope the club has the immediate success as North Melbourne had in our first season with them," Murphy said.
