Alan Clark knows a good drop.
As mine host of Shepparton's Victoria Hotel he has the record to prove the fact.
The Victoria has been named in the top 10 hotels in country Victoria by the Liquor Commission.
Alan has been associated in the pub game for many years.
Before coming to Shepparton in October 1975, he was chef at the Waltzing Matilda Hotel in Springvale.
During his stay there the "Matilda" was named the top hotel in the state.
Alan says bottle shop sales have probably contributed to the Victoria's elevation.
"Drinking habits have changed remarkably in recent years and it is vital that customers can have the choice and service they require," Alan said.
While his bottle sales have increased so too has bar trade.
The Victoria has also taken advantage of changes in trading hours which he has utilised to suit customer demand.
The Victoria's ranking among the top hotels in the state follows on similar success enjoyed by the Hotel Australia and the Goulburn Valley Hotel in the past years.
