The hammer throw is a traditional Scottish sport but Cameron Walker (5) found the 16 lb hammer was more than he could content with at a practice session last night.

However, Cameron will be able to see some of the best hammer throwers in Australia competing in the Highland Get-together at Princess Park on Sunday.

The Australian heavy games champion Bill Binks will demonstrate his prowess by tossing the caber and throwing the hammer.

A street procession of pipe bands from Springvale, Wangaratta, Bendigo, Benalla and Shepparton will commence activities at 1pm on Sunday.

Our picture shows Cameron flexing his muscles in an attempt to heave that heavy hammer.
