"A resounding success," was the general comment that summed up Shepparton's second annual bush market on Friday.
Shoppers and shopkeepers alike had a successful day.
An estimated 40,000 people visited the Bush Market, committee chairman said.
By noon, the streets were crowded with lunchtime shoppers looking for the early bargains.
The crowd reached a peak at around 8pm when the prices where dropped even further.
Shoppers comments included words such as "fantastic", "a fun day" and "great bargains".
Fairley's store manager, Mr John Weiss, said he was pleased with the day.
"We sold a lot of merchandise and cleared out the summer stock."
He added that the staff had a very tiring day but enjoyed joining in the fun of the Bush Market.
And for next year?
"It will be on again and we hope to make the day even better," a committee spokesman said.
"We hope to have more music and entertainment in the earlier part of the day. Perhaps the area closed off will be larger next year," the spokesman said.
