About 100 Brownies from Cobram, Numurkah, Tallygaroopna, Nathalia, Katandra West, Katamatite, Invergordon and Shepparton swarmed into the Katandra West Guide Hall to hear Sgt Peter Wilson and Det Const Leigh-Ann Eldridge speak about crime prevention.

Sgt Wilson and Det Const Eldrigde are from Crime Prevention Bureau, attached to the CIB in Melbourne.

The bureau specialise in crime prevention as well as operating as security consultants, doing security surveys and giving advice to anyone who requests it.

It has been operating for 12 years and representatives travel throughout Victoria.

Sgt Wilson and Det Const Eldridge spoke to the Brownies on personal protection, home prevention, how to prevent being attacked and what to do if you are attacked.

"We try to make them aware of how to get out of the situation", Det Const Eldridge said.

A film  was shown entitled "stranger Danger" and pamphlets were distributed among the children.

Pictured with Katandra West Brownie, Georgina Moller (8) are Sgt Peter Wilson and Det Const Leigh-Ann Eldridge.
