Shepparton High School student Annette Jenkins, has her sights set on a career in the defence force.
Yesterday Annette was presented with one of the 50 scholarships issued nationwide by the Royal Australian Air Force.
The $1000 scholarship gives her entry to the Australian Defence Force Academy in Canberra.
The presentation was made by Flight Lieutenant Jim Pritchard, the air force recruiting officer for Victoria, who arrived at the school in a seahawk helicopter from the naval air station, HMAS Albatross.
Annette wants to study for a Bachelor of Arts at the academy and hopes to become a supply office in the air force.
The scholarships are awarded to students in year 12 who have made application during year 11.
Their purpose is to assist successful applicants to achieve the educational standard required for entry to the academy.
Award of the scholarships is based on academic performance, personal qualities and general ability.
