September 4, 1981: New mast

December 20, 2017

The shape of Shepparton's skyline is changing with the completion of a 60.9 meter (200 ft) radio mast near SPC.

The mast's final stages were lifted into place by mobile crane late yesterday afternoon.

It was built by Angus Communications at a cost of nearly $20,000.

The mast will be used for two way transmission equipment used by local businesses.

The equipment will have a range of about 60 kilometers under perfect conditions.

The mast has been built in the backyard of Angus Communications building in Adams Ave behind SPC.

Mr Geoff Angus said before climbing the new mast yesterday to attach the aerials his company had previously used a mast in Wheeler St.

Geoff Angus, spanner in his back pocket, climbs the radio mast in readiness to bolt the final section on top.
